Virginia Tech Alpine Ski Team
About
The Virginia Tech Alpine Ski Team has been an active club since 1981. The club is coed and has a men's team and a women's team that compete in the Southeastern Collegiate Ski Conference. There is an A Team, a B Team, and a Practice Team to accommodate all levels of skiers. There is no racing experience required but ski experience is expected.
The ski team participates in dry-land training from late September until December. These practices consist of sports, cardio/weight workouts, and team bonding activities(hiking, kayaking, etc.)
The team hosts a week long pre-season camp during winter break at Jay Peak Resort in Jay, VT. On-snow practices begin at Winterplace Ski Resort, in Beckley, WV during the second semester. The team competes in Slalom and Giant Slalom events throughout the months of January and February at various locations in West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.
The goal of the VT Alpine Ski Team is to provide students with the opportunity to compete in ski racing and provide a structured path to becoming a better skier. It's also a fun and affordable way to meet new people from VT while doing something you love.
