Hybrid Electric Vehicle Team at Virginia Tech

About

The Hybrid Electric Vehicle Team (HEVT) participates in the EcoCAR EV Challenge, a 4-year university design competition sponsored by General Motors, MathWorks, and the U.S. Department of Energy.

Each team in the EcoCAR EV Challenge is given a 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ and tasked with redesigning its electric powertrain, advanced propulsion systems, and connected and automated vehicle technology. Additionally, the vehicle must be consumer appealing, energy efficient, and high performing.

HEVT is divided into 6 different sub-teams: Systems Design and Integration (SDI), Propulsion Controls and Modeling (PCM), Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV), Project Management (PM), Mobility Challenge (MC), and Communications (COMM). The first three are technical sub-teams, taking in Engineers from any discipline from Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Computer Science, or other STEM related majors such as CMDA. The last three are non-technical sub-teams, taking in students from any major such as Communications, Psychology, Engineering, Marketing, and more. There is a role for everyone, regardless of major, on HEVT!

This design team helps develop the next generation of innovators, leaders, and engineers of the future! This team is home to numerous professional opportunities such as engineering senior design, internship and job networking, and interdisciplinary team collaboration.
